What $15,000 buys on our lot
Under $15,000 is where most of our compact sedans and small crossovers land. The vehicles that usually show up in this range are models like the Nissan Versa and Rogue, Kia Forte and Sportage, Chevrolet Trax, Buick Encore, Hyundai Venue and Ford Fusion, with the occasional Jeep Cherokee or Ford EcoSport. Most are 2018 to 2023 model years. They're practical, easy on fuel and cheap to insure, which is why this range moves faster than anything else on the lot.
Inventory turns over quickly, so the listings above are the most accurate view of what's here today. If something catches your eye, it's worth calling ahead at (843) 225-5377.
Newer with more miles, or older with fewer?
At this price you're usually choosing between the two. A newer vehicle with higher mileage often has more safety tech (backup cameras, lane departure warning, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto) and fewer years of wear on rubber, seals and suspension. An older vehicle with low miles may have spent more of its life sitting. Highway miles on I-26 and I-526 are easier on a car than the same miles in stop-and-go traffic, so don't pass on a vehicle just because the odometer reads higher than you expected. Look at the history and the condition first.
Which vehicles under $15k qualify for the free 90-day warranty
The Payless 90-Day Certified Warranty comes at no extra cost on qualifying vehicles. A vehicle qualifies if it's under 10 years old, under 100,000 miles and non-diesel. At this price point that line matters, because some vehicles on this page are inside it and some are just outside it. Ask us which ones qualify before you decide. We'd rather you know up front.
On qualifying vehicles, coverage includes:
- Engine internals
- Transmission and drive axle
- Air conditioning
- Brakes, steering and suspension
- Cooling, fuel and electrical components
- Roadside assistance reimbursement up to $100 per occurrence
- Rental reimbursement during a covered repair
Read the free Carfax before you buy
Every vehicle on this site comes with a free Carfax report. On a budget vehicle, that report is the most useful thing you can read. Hurricane seasons push flood-damaged vehicles through Southeast auctions every year, and those cars can look clean for months before electrical problems show up. Check the ownership history, accident reports and where the vehicle was registered, then come drive it.
Plan the payment, not just the price
Use our car loan calculator to see what a vehicle under $15,000 looks like as a monthly payment. If you have a vehicle to trade, get your trade-in value first, because it may take a car off this page and into your budget without changing the payment much. When you're ready, apply for financing online. We work with first-time buyers, buyers rebuilding credit and everyone in between.
